Once again, I'm extremely excited about the DB's we've picked verbals up for. I trust MB and coaches Muschamp and Akina to identify and land the very best prospects in the state (and, as illustrated recently, beyond).
Obviously, we're about done with this year's class. Is it safe to assume that we won't add any other DB's? Would understand if so, but I hate that, because there are some terrific prospects remaining.
For example, everybody knows about Charles Jackson. He may well be as good as anyone in the state this year. One lesser-known quality of his that I really like is that he sports a 40 inch vertical--at least that's what Rivals reports. We've learned to take such reports with a grain of salt--esp as relates to size and 40 yd dash times. To the extent that v-jump figures are accurate, however, they lend credibility to accompanying 40-times. Which leads me to my second example.
Has anybody seen Eric Rowe (Klein) play? Talk about an intriguing prospect. Rivals lists him as a 6'2, 170+ Safety with 4.43 40, 4.1 shuttle, 225 bench, and an eye-popping 43 inch vertical jump. GPA 3.56 and 1440 SAT. Wow! And while I know measurables do not a football player make, he demonstrated enough savvy and hands to have 5 picks last year. In short, would seem to have size and athleticism to play CB or S and academics in order. For whatever reason, there doesn't appear to be interest between ER and UT, but I'm going to keep my eyes on this kid for a few years.
