Didn't see this posted anywhere, didn't look that hard either.

I just can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to take such a wonderful opportunity.

this news gave me a good chuckle. poor aggy. kines would be a pretty good band-aid, though, until they could bring in someone younger. he's a heckuva defensive coach.

Unlike many Ags, I didn't expect Davie to give up the good life in Scotsdale, working 10-15 weekends a year, to return to be a college coordinator for the same amount of money (maybe a little more). The only way you leave a booth position is to be head coach, both money and prestige wise. His family time in Scotsdale is pretty important to him, and you can't overvalue that.

Kines looks like a good candidate, and put together good schemes for the Tech and Florida offenses of late.

Why the rejection? Probably one look at the roster of returning aggy starters (1 & 2 star):

Richard Simmons
Khalid Shaikh Mohammed
Jar Jar Binks
Pee Wee Herman
Dennis Kusinich
Michael Jackson

Wonder if $Bill would be interested in a do over now with Gary *arnell. Surely, somebody's willing to take the job.

I thought the whole Davie rumor seemed to be a bit odd anyway from the start. The only way I could see it being plausible is if they promised him the HC job whenever Sherm steps aside at some point.

I had forgotten that Kines had become available after Alabama hired Saban. Interesting potential hire for the ags. Wonder how he'd get along with the current staff in place?

Heh, would be interesting to see Kines vs. Muschamp, Part Deux -- The Big XII Edition.

Man, I was really hoping for Davie. The 2nd string head coach, ready to step in, constantly creating controversy and friction.

Rats.

Kines could have had a job already if he wanted one - but the question is, does he really want to return to coaching? Word in Tuscaloosa is that his wife does not want him to coach again and he is happy spending time with his grandkids, who live in town. Plus, its not like he is unemployeed since he is still working in the Alabama AD's office, but it will be interesting to see how much money a&m throws at him.

aggy gets who they want. any of them will tell you they have the tradition, the facilities, the money, the support, and more tradition that no coach would turn down. they're capable of playing with the big boys.
