I went to the '95 Sugar Bowl in a '70s/early '80s van with a couple of Davidson grads. The van's owner played for the hoops team. He was a small town kid from NC who would talk about how someone was the "Best player in the county."

We always loved how achieving in the COUNTY was the be-all, end-all for kids in small town NC.

He would not have helped this team that much. But I'm sure that he's over the moon.

And their campus has only 1,700 students. I wonder if the UConn lady's coach would have a smart remark to make about that? (He issued a sarcasm about the Lady Horns coming from a campus of 50,000 with expensive facilities--hence should not be an underdog).

While it's been obvious for decades that enrollment has nothing to do with quality of a given year's basketball program. Congrats to Davidson.
