dans and frans

I saw Dan at the restaurant at Manchaca and Ben White. I think he died not too long after though.

haven't tried a fran's yet, but dan's is delicious, except for the chest pains i get after eating there.

I have a Frans right by my house. Quality stuff. There's a line into the street during the lunch rush.

koopa, same burger really.

Any time you are in a Fran's, check for the plaque on the wall with the bitter saying about how somethings don't last, etc. It'll give you a clue as to how their divorce went.

Too ******* bad.

They use different beef. I probably go to Dan's about 4/5 times, but Fran's is good to mix it up.

I doubt they taste the same anymore. Didn't they divorce 15 years ago or so? Different brands of beef, veggies, ketchup, buns. Something will be different.

I've been in the Austin area for 47 years and haven't been to Dan's/Fran's yet. Did go to the Top Notch for the first time about a month ago - great burger. I miss the #5 Flameburger from the Holiday House.

Holiday House was great! I'd forgotten about that - ScoPro - you should have listed that in your "I remember" thread...

Right after Fran & Dan split up the burger joints, I was in Fran's on S. Congress with a friend of mine. As we were in line, I asked my friend about the change. He told me about the divorce, and ended the story with "..and I hear the wife as a real f-ing *****.."

To which the cashier responded "Yeah, she's also my Mom."

A-hole. I hope they just spit in his burger, and not mine....

I lived off cheeseburgers from Dan's during my last year of law school. The Dan's on S. Congress was about a half block from my apartment. Of course, that location is now a Fran's.
