I can see why he would want them to wait for a number of reasons.
1) They need to get ready for their season
2) There will be coaching changes in the spring and he wants to make sure his guys have the ability to know what they are getting into.
3) It allows more schools to get involved, and gets other players noticed. Once a kid commits a lot of the schools will stop coming by the school and he wants to make sure his gym is always full of coaches so that he can keep recruiting kids to play there.
The problem is that his guys are going to be distracted and feel certain pressures until they commit. They are the ones that will continue to receive 100's of texts a day and be asked by everyone "where are you going next year?"
obviously it generally makes sense to weigh all options and not rush to judgement. but that would be criticizing mack brown for getting early commitments and criticizing the football guys who commit before the end of the season.
there are plenty of reasons that it's ok for guys to look at their future too.
