Daniels Opening Recruiting?

Saw on Kentuckyink.com that there is a rumor out there that DeAndre Daniels is thinking about decommiting. Has anyone else heard this? I would be extremely pissed if this happens. Especially if he ended up at Kentucky.

Rumors happen. Most people on Kentucky boards seem to think he won't likely go to Lexington since they already have Gilchrist in the class and are likely to add either Miller or Nash or both.

I thought it was an interesting suggestion, but it bothered me becuase I look at him and Myck to turn our program around. I'm not expecting much for this season because I don't think that our major weaknesses from last season have been addressed other than PG, and Corey is more of a Combo Guard.

I'm looking forward to seeing this on the court:
Myck
C. Joseph
McClellan
Daniels
Thompson

Of course I'd really like to see Daniels as the SF and for us to get a legit PF, but the point is that I can't wait to see him play with Myck, Joseph, and Thompson. That could be an exciting team.

3ball, with DeAndre's height and athleticism, that lineup is entirely possible. And then you remember that it would entail Barnes teaching zone principles on defense...

I'm not saying that I'm not worried, but at the Pangos camp last month he introduced himself numerous times as Texas commit DeAndre Daniels. Plus, if he wanted to go to Kentucky he could've committed to them instead as they offered before we did.

Not really sure why that lineup would require us to play zone. Myck and Joseph are great defenders. Thompson is a good defender/shot blocker. And Daniels is a better defender as a SF than Hamilton and Williams, although that's not really saying a whole lot.

If we can get a legit PF then we wouldn't have to play zone. If we don't, and we use McClellan at SF and Daniels at PF then we might have to play zone some due to strength issues, but I don't think that would be that bad. Plus, our offense would be tough to guard.

Gotcha. I feel really good about our chances to land two bigs. Don't know how thick they will be, but it looks like Daniels will be able to SF.

I know it's just speculation, but who do you expect that to be right now? It's nice having a guy like Daniels who could play inside or outside easily and be above average skill level at both positions. Would you prefer a lineup with Myck, CoJo, Sheldon, Daniels, and TT or do you think hypothetical big man (Christmas?) paired with Thompson would be better and have Sheldon come off the bench.

Honestly, I have no idea who the big man will be. But, that's all we're evaluating and recruiting so I like our chances of landing someone good.

As for Daniels, I would rather him play SF. Just feel like it's his more natural position. Plus, McClellan coming in as a 6'6 SG would give us a REALLY long line-up depending on who we get to play PF.

sounds like its people around him that are wanting him to open things up. If he doesn't sign during the early signing period I'd start worrying(provided he doesn't open things up before that of course).
