Dana Rohrabacher Questions US Foreign Policy Stupidity

Not sure anything would have changed what Russia has done since Putin was elected again. Hanging your hopes on Kerry negotiating a tough deal with Russia is laughable. Maybe we ought to revisit what Kerry did give up if he was negotiating anything with Russia 5 years ago as the video mentions. Kerry probably gave up something for nothing if any of his recent negotiating victories with Cuba and Iran are any indication.

It's not about Kerry. That idiot is a disaster, but this is more about us telling Russia "you can't do that" while we are trying to do exactly that ourselves.

What he is saying is the USA are not the only superpower who is allowed to unilaterally monkey around with regime change. Either we need to stop, or we need to recognize the ability of other powerful countries to do it too. Personally, I prefer the notion of us getting out of the regime change business altogether.

regime change always works to our advantage.

I recall in 1963 when President Diem of Viet Nam's southern division took up talking to the north about a political deal, or was suspected of planning to do so, and we gave some of his marvelously talented generals the green light to overthrow him. They staged a coup, shot him and his brother, pitched their bodies into the back of an APC, and went on the wage, with our greatful assistance, a successful war against the north.

Well, sort of.........

The Kennedys and their best and brightest Ivy League know it alls did not know anything about what was going on in VN on the ground and we ended up backing a bunch more regime changes before the north got bored with our shenanigans and knocked the pins over.

We have managed regime changes so well in the fifty years since that it really makes no sense to stop now.

This demonstrates that trying to shape countries towards "America's interests" don't generally work. Only in the case of Japan/Germany did it work. Obviously, Iraq/Libya didn't remotely work to our advantage.
