Any suggestions for good TexMex in Dallas? What about steak places? Also looking for some good bars (with more Texas fans than sooners). Thanks!!

My oreference for TexMex is still Herrera's on Old Denton Drive, just off Inwood not far from Love Field. Every OU Weekend for 25 years after the game.

Steak in Dallas deends on what part of town you're staying - several good places, particularly in the Addison/Galleris area.

Tex mex - several good places named, but I like El Ranchito in Oak Cliff (Jefferson Ave.). It's Norteno style food (grilled meats) with mariachi's every night. It usually has a great atmosphere.

Steaks: Al Biernet's, Bob's, Nick and Sam's are all better than Pappas (In my opinion). Dakota's downtown also has great steaks and a nice outside dining area. Sitting inside there, however, is pretty bland and boring. It is sometimes easier to get into than the others.

There's a cool place called the lakewood landing that's not too far from the Stadium. It's a bit divey, if that's what you're into. Plenty of place to find however. You can always look at texasbeermaps.com and find whatever you're looking for as far as bars and such, or where to get beer going and coming as much of the state is dry.
Hookem!!!!!

Charlie Palmer in the Joule is the bomb.. I bet it's already booked up for the weekend...

Mattitos if you miss your Bob Armstrong.

I still like Del Frisco.. dependable.. good strong drinks...and a cigar lounge.

You are thinking of Charlie Palmer at the Joule. Palmer makes his fame at Aureole in NYC and Vegas. The Dallas spot is pretty swanky; the food and service are top notch (see Bison ribeye). The wine list is on an electronic tablet that lets you do focussed searches. If you like wine, it's fun to play with. More importantly, though, they have a retail wine shop there. The restuarant serves wine at the retail price plus $25-35, like a corkage fee. Compare that to the 2-3 x retail, typical markup and you have a good value. The place is not cheap, but the wine price policy is nice.
