Dallas/Houston public golf courses

So I'm looking to start playing a lot more again and need help finding good practice facilities and twilight rates. I work in downtown Dallas, so what are the best places to practice/play 9 holes after work close to me? Also, I spend quite a few weekends down in Houston, so does anyone know of good courses to play on the west side of town?

Tennison is probably the closest. It's basically in Lakewood. Decent practice facilities.

I played Keeton Park all the time in law school. It's off of 30 and Jim Miller just east of downtown. I haven't been there in forever, but it was always in decent shape and I really did like the layout. Driving range was only so so. But the course was never really crowded.

Stevens Park is west of downtown in north Oak Cliff, I believe. Pretty short track. I broke 80 for the first time at that course the summer I was studying for the bar. Nice views of downtown.

I love Stevens Park, but it only has a chipping and putting green, no driving range.

It is short, but can be challenging since it is narrow and has a lot of trees. (Sadly some of them have fallen down or been taken down due to storms)

I just played Cedar Crest yesterday and it was in great shape... and 30 bucks

Tennison is a good track.

I played Stevens Park a couple of months ago and it was in terrible shape.

Houston west: Cinco Ranch in Katy used to be a decent track for a budget.
