Dallas diamond ring shopping

Anyone have a suggestion for a diamond retailer with really good customer service hopefully in the Dallas area (live in Irving). Price isn't really an issue right now as I am taking my girl to find out her preferences. I know only to buy from the mall stores since noone can beat 75% off sales.

Here's my advice. Find out what she likes when yall go shop at the malls (Baily banks & biddle is pretty customer friendly). however, NEVER EVER buy from mall stores.

ya that was pretty much sarcasm about the malls. Your suggestion is pretty much what we did last night. It worked well.

I had no idea that famous designers also do rings. The sales lady kept telling us that this ring was done by vera something like we were supposed to be impressed. I guess that works for some people.

if you have a picture of a "design", a really good jeweler can duplicate anything.

NO NO NO NO....
Be VERY, VERY careful about having a jeweler duplicate a ring. There is a store in austin who has a designer line that 4-5 jewelers in this city try to copy. Some of these are the worst damn rings I have ever seen. If its something simple that can be done in wax and cast, great. If it is something complicated with a bunch micro-pave set diamonds in it, some jeweler will get in over his head and he'll end up re-doing it 5 times until you finally want your money back. I see this once a month. Please Do not do that.

As for Mariloff, they are not bad people, but seriously: if you have a showroom in the trade center with salespeople, jewelers, and rings, are you really a wholesaler??? How many jewelry stores do you think get their diamonds from these people?? "Wholesale" means the diamond is sold for resale. Nothing more, nothing less. Whatver you do, shop around. Come to think of it, send me a pic of the ring and I'll tell you whether or not a jeweler can make it. I'll save both of you the time and aggrevation of trying to make it.
