My wife and I are going to go for a quick 2 night weekend and are looking for the best place to stay.

Some of our choices are:

Mansion at Turtle Creek
W
Westin Galleria Dallas
Hotel Zaza

Anyone stayed at one of these and how was it?

ritz carlton just opened here, worth a look too. just depends on the feel that you and the wife are looking for. za za and W hotel are more trendy, hip, somewhat loud (in the lobbies and bars) and the mansion is stately, quiet, reserved.

zaza is nice and fun -- I've stayed there -- but it is owned by sooners. stay across the street at the crescent court or the mansion (both owned by the same hotelier).

If you stay at the W, you have.. the Ghostbar upstairs (great views) and the W bar downstairs... great people watching in both... you have Kenichi on one end of the hotel and then, Nove and N9ne Steakhouse on the other (all just outside your front door)... the suites are very nice as well.

If you want old school Dallas.... don't forget about the Adolphus... the French Room still is great.

If you're going to do ZaZa, get the Dangerous Beauty suite (it's awesome). Their spa is amazing!!

I've stayed at hotel Lumen, Hotel St. Germain and Hotel Indigo and those were cool too.

You've got some pretty good choices for intown Dallas.... don't forget Four Seasons in Las Colinas.

Another vote for ZaZa.

You could walk over to the Ritz for dinner at Dean Fearing's new joint, or hit Nobu in Crescent Court.

The main dining room at the Manstion is still closed and it undergoes its post-Dean Fearing transformation. They are serving all meals in the room they usually use for breakfast and lunch.

I have had two separate clients tell me that they preferred the Palomar to the ZaZa, and it wasn't even close. I myself had a terrible experience at the ZaZa, so I would really recommend against it.

The Stoneleigh is just finishing up a huge renovation and may or may not be open when you come up here. I haven't checked it out first-hand, but the pictures on the website make it look pretty great. That may be worth considering.

i'll be very interested to see how the stoneleigh looks when the redo is completed. i live right next to it. it looks a long way from done, to the naked eye.

Well she chose an old mainstay for us in The Stockyards Hotel. We got one of the suites there and we will be hitting up Billy Bob's and H3. Should be a fun weekend and hopefully the Cowboys will win.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and I am looking forward to Stoneleigh being finished. Looks like it will a good place to stay.

back in the summer my wife and i stayed at the Adolphus. Got a room for less than $100 a night and there was plenty of food/bar w/in walking distance of the hotel. I was impressed with the place and we enjoyed our stay. Even though it is "old" it didn't feel that way in our room.

I know a hotel has been chosen, and this thread is officially done - but one more recommendation:

Even if you don't stay there (and it is a great hotel), the Mansion at Turtle Creek's Piano Bar is not to be missed.

Michael Gott is a star, and worth a visit to the hotel, just to hear him play and sing. He is only there a few nights a week, so it would be worthwhile to call and check on the schedule before heading over there for a few drinks. Enjoy!
