Disheartening story. Obviously not all the facts are known, but based on this article, does this man deserve jail time?

Simply based on the article, I would lean to no. It seems he could have stopped the attack without killing the man but seeing his daughter like that would probably stunt any logiciacal thoughts.
 
No jail time. Claims he didn't mean to kill the molester. He clearly has a right to defend his daughter since the incident was still going on when he found the guy. Sheriff seemed to think that nothing is going to happen to the father.
 
I don't have to know any more facts to know I wouldn't make any movements to convict this guy of any crime associated with this, if I were a juror. In fact, you could tell me the guy was attempting to kill the abuser and I still wouldn't vote to convict. Hell you could tell me the guy hunted this guy down weeks later and I still wouldn't convict. I could care less about what the law says.

Shouldn't even take it before a Grand Jury to seek an indictment.

You have a right to defend another person being assaulted. Certainly a 4 year old being subjected to a child molester counts.

I would equate it to finding ones spouse with someone else & the spouse/other is killed in the heat of the moment - more so, under these circumstances. Guy had it coming to him, and we know they cannot be rehabilitated.
 
Based on the facts, my "punishment" would be to have the guy lead a training session for current and prospective dads teaching them exactly how to react when they catch a scumbag molesting one of their kids.
 
He saved probably a few dozen other children from being later molested by this pervert. The dad should get a medal.

We need the death penalty more for child molesters than we do for murderers. And I'm not joking.
 
Crockett's feelings on use of violence:
1. Killing a burglar, no threat to you, exiting a neighbors yard -- gunman should be punished.
2. Killing an unarmed man man walking out of your store with a cash register after you warned him -- sad by understandable.
3. Beating to death, with you fists a man sexually assaulting your four year old daughter. God love you fellow. I'd cheerfully exonerate you if you tortured, maimed and beheaded the perp.
 
If the facts are as stated, I agree with the law enforcement official. The man was eliminating an immediate physical threat and the violence he used is completely understandable.

If the reports are true, then he should be applauded. It's a proper way to eliminate the scum that continues to prey on our children.

Hopefully it wont come out later that he was just walking by the house with a Coke and a bag of Skittles and attacked for no reason.

Anyway, it appears that there is one less child preditor on the streets today.
 
I very rarely jump in to the West Maul, but in this instance I feel obligated. Assuming the facts are as reported, Crockett is completely spot on.

Dad is a hero. Try and rape a kid....you get killed! No waste of taxpayers money with a trial and prison...instant justice!

I 100% agree with this. Pedophiles need to be given life in prison automatically and a a bare minimum. There is no cure.

coming from you I give this position more credence than otherwise.
of course I agree with you but you know I don't approach it with the same degrees of scrutinty you do.
 
My ex-wife worked in the sexual abuse unit for CPS. I have way too much second hand knowledge of that ****. There are folks who pollute the gene pool. Pedophiles and sexual predators definitely need to be selected against and removed from society one way or another.
 
Even the hardest core killers in prison can't stand a pedophile. They sometimes happen to have an "accident" while in prison and never make it out.

Shame.
Kids and elderly--my big time hot buttons. I wonder just as much when I hear of a 70-ish year old woman raped.
Some people are so sick, they truly need to be put out of their miserable lives.
 
Completely justified, but the living are left to suffer. The girl will forever be traumatized, and the father (because he's human) will still be haunted by the outcome...no matter how justified.

The whole thing makes me sick.
