Travis County DA drops the felony domestic violence charges against Beard. SO does he end up back on the UT sideline?
 
I feel like he’ll end up at Louisville, they have a pretty high scandal tolerance. But the perfect spot would be to rebuild New Mexico State’s program and his own personal brand. It would be a great story.
 
So ridiculous we fired him due to a mentally health challenged fiancé. I bet he’s at A&M within 2 years kicking our ***. Pay the man his money…,

Great - now show me the investigation that concluded he violated the contract. Don’t you think his attorney doesn’t know what happened? He was fired due to a knee-jerk response without a serious investigation of the facts.

My post is my opinion of what they will do. I don’t know all the facts. You’re right, his attorney does. Guess it will all come out if lawsuits are filed. Personally speaking, I’m not ready to say it was a knee jerk response though until it’s all out.
 
I think he’ll wind up at a fairly high profile program and do extremely well. He’s won everywhere he’s been. No reason to think that will change.

My presumption is that the UT compliance department made a CYA decision knowing they can’t be sued for incompetence or cowardice.

Why would someone coach at UT knowing they can be fired WITHOUT PAY OR SEVERANCE for farting at the wrong time, or has an unorthodox family situation? And particularly if the university did a sham of an investigation?
 
We knew this was going to happen when she recanted her story and refused to testify against him. We also knew he was gone when he was arrested, right or wrong, because termination for cause for being arrested was in his contract.
 
The police reports are written to justify the actions taken by the police. They are not and never will be a fair and balanced reading of a given situation.
 
So which will happen first:

1. Texas wins a natty in basketball?

2. Chris Beard wins a natty at another school?
 
If that is the contractual language, Beard has no gripe except with the agent who agreed to that clause.

Charges can be brought against anybody based off some pretty flimsy accusations (not commenting on Beard's actual case here - just making the point in the abstract). Once those accusations are examined and they fall apart charges could be reduced or dropped altogether. To agree to the language as reported in the KXAN story seems very amateurish for even a halfway decent agent.

This is true everywhere. Any org that isn't mom and pop MUST think this way to an extent.

They look at what they believe to be true about Beard's behaviors and whether they can withstand the PR issues. I would guess that whether there is enough evidence to move forward with charges is secondary to what they believe his behaviors were.

Perhaps the only way Beard gets hired is that language is included in the contract. I don't know anything more than the average Joe and probably less....but wasn't there stuff at tech while he was there that made this clause a requirement?
