D (not DFW) Barbeque

Just finished a Brisket/Sausage plate from Peggy Sue BBQ in Dallas while watching the Nebraska/USC game and it got me thinking:

I've done Sonny Bryan's, Peggy Sue, Dickeys, etc. but Peggy Sue is my favorite in Dallas (Overall I think John Mueller's in Austin was the best I've had).

What should I try in Dallas, not Fort Worth for BBQ? While I have been wanting to try Sammy's, but since its only open for lunch during the wek, it is out. Any others to add to the list for me to try?

Please don't turn this into a BBQ from the Hill Country is better than BBQ in Dallas thread. Thanks.

Well, since I've got a dog in this hunt, I say Sammy's. It's without question (IMO, of course) the best 'cue Dallas has to offer. I haven't eaten at Peggy Sue's in a long time and the only Sonny Bryan's worth a **** is the original and I don't think it's that good anymore (haven't been in awhile). Dickey's is essentially fast-food BBQ but it's not bad.

Why can't you make it to Sammy's for lunch? Do you work outside of Dallas or something? Sammy's is open on Saturday -- you could go then. If you do, make sure you try the baked potato casserole (everybody in town has tried to copy this veggie and nobody has come close) and the fried okra. Absolute tits.

i didnt know there was a rudy's in firsco. i am going to schedule a meeting up there tomorrow aroung lunchtime.

the only good thing bakers ribs has is their cobbler. when i first moved here, one of the local papers said they had the best ribs in town. my ***.

We went to the Frisco Rudy's yesterday. Food is good, but staff is pretty unorganized. (IE Forgetting to put items into your crate) The lines are pretty long due to the newness.

Sadly, you are right about it being in the top 3 of Dallas. Whoever said Dickey's is even close to edible is being WAY too generous. Maybe their potato salad, but their BBQ is crap.

It's damn near impossible to find anything decent in the metroplex. Baker's is good, but I don't care for their sauce. Sonny Bryant's sauce is good, but their BBQ is dry. Never a place around here where everything matches up.

I never said I liked Dickeys, just said that I had tried it. I think I've been there 1 or 2x, but not in a year or so.

I don't leave the office during the day, so I can't go to Sammys.
