anyone familiar with the Silver Springs area? I'm here for a few days, staying just a few blocks north of Walter Reed on Georgia Ave and I don't have a vehicle.

Looking for a good steakhouse where I can dine alone, maybe at the bar or something.

Any other can't miss recs are appreciated beyond steakhouses. Remember - no vehicle so i'm walking, cabbing it or taking the Metro.

The Old Soldier's Home is up there near Walter Reed. I would go there sometimes on weekends to talk to the guys, hear their stories, give some of my own. It was humbling to hear of their tales during WWII and Korea, some Vietnam. It may not hit high on the list of things to do but for a soldier it may.

They appreciate it and you will to. Just an idea.

There is a museum of human parts and medical things in Walter Reed, or there used to. It was freaky. If you are into that kind of stuff, ask around and somebody will know about it.
