Omaha World Herald version sounds more detailed than the NCAA's version, but they don't conflict.

Top college baseball teams will take the "Road to Omaha" through at least 2030.

But they won't be playing at Rosenblatt Stadium after 2010. Starting in 2011, the team buses will be heading downtown under a new College World Series agreement struck today with the NCAA.

"This is the first day of the rest of our lives when it comes to the College World Series," said Jack Diesing Jr., president of College World Series of Omaha Inc.

The NCAA agreed to an unprecedented deal to keep the series in Omaha for at least 20 years. The deal also offers some protection for Omaha taxpayers worried about how to pay for the $140 million stadium project."

The CWS should remain in Rosenblatt Stadium. The magic happens between S 10th Street, S 13th Street, Bert Murphy Drive, and Bob Gibson Drive. Not over by the Qwest Center, not by Boys Town, not by Westroads Mall, not Downtown, or anywhere else.

If not Rosenblatt -- why Omaha?

Rosenblatt is hardly the structure it was 30 years ago.

This seems to me to be a good deal for the city. They can build a new ballpark, knowing that the CWS will be there to help support it.

The alternative... not building and remodeling Rosenblatt (again), with risk of losing the tournament, just doesn't seem worth it.
