Culinary travel

So I'm going on a trip with my dad and we want to go to some sort of cooking school. I'd like to go to Europe, though Chile or Argentina would be really cool too.

It doesn't get more classic than Italy or France, and neither cuisines are really in my repertoire. Wine is obviously a big part of the trip and those two would obviously fit the bill in spades. I prefer more exotic travel (hence the Chile/Argentina idea), but if the purpose is food, then Europe is probably a better choice.

Anyone got any recommendations based on personal experience?

My wife did a cooking school while we I was in meetings during th day in Bangkok. Great experience for her and I am continuing to reap the benefits..

She did the school at the Oriental Bangkok..

Yeah, Thailand would be great, as I love Thai food and would really like to visit the country. I also live in Thai Town in L.A so all the ingredients I could ask for are a two minute walk away.

Love me some pad Thai...

You need to talk to Mick Vann if you want to go to a Thai cooking school. He is the man with the connections.
Atlas Culinary Adventures

Mick is close friends with the owners of Madam Mam's here in Austin.
His trip to Xalapa, Mexico is blogged here.Mole In the Mountains.

Mick is the definition of a "Trencherman"..he has one hell of an appetite for good food.

Thanks for the link to Atlas where I saw this on upcoming trips: Central Texas Blues & BBQ
