In the news of the not very surprising, the crystal skulls in the British Museum of Natural History, the Smithsonian and Quai Branley Museum in Paris have been deemed to be of modern manufacture. Contrary to the claims of Indiana Jones, they can obviously be manufactured by modern techniques because you can by them at many rock shops. These appear to have been manufactured by an antiques dealer in the late 1800's and passed on as genuine pre-Columbian artifacts.
The skulls have tool marks on them that show they were made with modern tools and industrial class abrasives.
