Cruz fired by Astros

i'm barely over those idiots removing Ashby from the booth (and replacing them with a couple of minor league guys) and now they fire Cruz?

I'm going to become a Rangers fan yet....

I think I've sold Cruz short, he has done a great job developing young international talent......

I can't really blame Ed Wade. Imagine if your boss told you could only shop at the dollar store, and you ahd $25 to spend. Then he shows up with a big, slow, 1 trick pony and says he spent half your budget on that...

BTW, he wasn't "fired", he's just no longer first base coach. Still works for the Astros in an off-the-field role.

There's two ways to come at this...

1. The first base coach doesn't really do a whole lot, so it doesn't matter who does it.
2. Cruz has been a longtime Astro and it sucks to see him go.

Even considering #1, what harm would it have done to keep Cruz as first base coach? Granted that he was there for mostly sentimental reasons, but it's just hard to figure what the reason was for choosing to let him go.
