Critter Catchers

I have a rat problem at my home in Dallas. I have tried "over-the-counter" traps and they are just not working and I am ready to enlist a professional. Got one quote from a company for an initial consultation, setting the traps and 8 visits over the next 4 months to check and empty the traps for a total of $500. This sounds a bit high to me, but wanted to check with others about their knowledge regarding this type of service and prices associated with same. Any knowledge regarding this is appreciated. Referrals to credible companies are also welcome.

I live in Dallas and have recently experienced my first rat problem. We have been in our home for nine years and this was the first time we have encountered rats.

Before you call a professional, get yourself a couple of these (the locking ones if you have pets or small children)::The Link

I think there are some available for a good price on eBay. I used them and caught both of the perpetrators on consecutive nights. No problems since I caught them.

Be sure and inspect the exterior of your house diligently to ensure you don't have any access points. Remember that rats can get through pretty much any opening if they set their mind to it. If you have a pier and beam foundation, be sure and check all the vents and any other possible way they can get underneath the house.

Don't leave any pet food out as well. I also began taking up my dog's water bowl at night.

If you have a doggie door, you might consider that as an entry point.

PM me if you decide you want to talk to a professional in Dallas. I do quite a bit of business with a really good one and he is the one that turned me on to these traps.

damn, i had a serious problem in my house in austin recently and paid a lot more than that. i had caught a bunch of baby rats but the adults were smarter and i couldn't do anything to get them. i had some guys come out to the house and put these tubes in the attic and under the house. i stopped hearing the rats in the ceiling soon after. then they came back and sealed up my house. honestly, this was really worth the cost. i haven't had any problems since and i sleep well knowing there is nothing in my house.

*i couldn't get anything in my attic over my bedroom b/c it's a flat roof.

This is probably your cheapest and most sure way to rid yourself of rats and a host of other things. I highly suggest it.

Or possibly, the dreaded black rat mamba; i hear it is more people friendly. Although how much more I do not know...

don't waste your time with traps. Odds are you won't fully take care of the problem and you'll eventually call a professional

$500 is about right. We paid $600 for pretty much the same thing you described. All entry points have been sealed, they will come back 4 times to ensure everything is sealed and check traps.

we had tree rats make their way in. ******* disgusting and creepy. Fortunately we took care of the problem ASAP. I suggest you do the same.
