Do more coils make the mattress firmer or softer?

Baby M has been sleeping in our bed (and a hotel bed) for the last few weeks. Both are tempurpedic (topper and mattress). Her current mattress is rock hard and she hates it. Any recommendations on a good softer mattress?

Have fun with that buddy.... It sounds like we made the same mistake in letting our kids in our bed. It sucks to have them there, but it's also comforting knowing that they're ok. Enjoy your first night of no-sleep

Here's the answer you don't want to hear:

Put her to bed on the firm mattress, even if she hates it at first. She'll get used to it.

If you absolutely MUST give her a softer top surface, buy a foam matress pad (maybe even one of those egg carton looking thingies) -- just make sure it's not flammable. The sheet will cover it anyway.

Don't buy a new, soft mattress. They DO break down, and softer ones break down faster, and will be uncomfortable.

Oh, and enjoy the nights of no sleep while she's bitching about it.

Cover the mattress with one of those baby quilts you got at the shower. Make sure to tuck it under the mattress. Cover it with a sheet and you are good to go.
