Crazy Money! SEC signs new football package with ESPN

They pray that SEC stays near the top of the Heap.

with no Saban Bama may not retain its brand significance. Or maybe the Ags will develop a national following after they win a few NCs

ad dollars are huge but I don’t know if I am ready to sit thru ten minutes of commercials every time the ball changes hands.

I know it is hardly the answer I am looking for but Yahoo Finance says Disney is losing money. Granted the parks are losing lots of money and network and cable tv keep getting more and more complicated but this seems reckless. I also think pay per view type model will win the day and many conference games will be only have Pan Cake House and Dollar Store as the only sponsors.

That's too bad, as I think those Saturday afternoon CBS/SEC broadcasts are greatness. CBS's combination of native 1080p cameras (15 of them, including a couple of handhelds), mic'd-up crowds, and great directors (meaning great story-tellers) make our games on FOX look dull and static by comparison. Maybe the B12 will sign a contract with CBS?

Are you kidding me? No interviews with Bowelsby? He must have a huge deal working with CW network, and doesn't want to embarrass the SEC.

So Disney has totally locked up the SEC starting in September 2024. Hmm. With each team getting about $21 million per season from the tier-1 deal. That's great money.

Note the Big 12 GOR expires in June of 2025. I'd be willing to bet we'll be losing a member in mid-2024.
