Crazy *** ending to an intramural game

I was at game for a team with a lot of my friends on it tonight. Both their team and the one they were playing needed to win or tie the game to make the playoffs (no overtime in regular season). My friends' team is down by one with about 8 seconds left, and my friend is fouled while shooting with 2 seconds left. He misses the first, makes the second. Tie game, both teams make the playoffs. Not quite, the other team inbounds it and chucks it from half court and it goes in a perfect swish as time runs out.
Thats not all. The other team storms the floor mauling their teammate that made the shot. Im sitting in the bleachers and the dogpile is coming towards me and i notice the guy that they are all over's forehead is split open and hes bleeding all over the place. I had to get up and move so that i didnt get bled on.
Once his teammates realized what was happening they stopped and told the refs, and he was receiving medical attention.
I went down on the court to tell my friends that they had a good season. They were all rightfully so in shock about what had happened. One of my friends was talking to a guy on the other team. The other guy said that he was missing a tooth. And explained that when they rushed the floor that when he jumped on his teammate his tooth landed on his teammates head and split it open. By that time the whole rec center was over at that court, and the refs had to have everyone clear the court and stands to clean up the blood that was everywhere. It was disgusting.

Not the first time that blood has been spilled on the floor at Gregory during an IM hoops game.

Back in law school, I played on a co-ed team with some guys and chicks who could straight-up ball. Not me, I was just a Najera on the team.

Anywho, during a playoff game, a fan of our opponent, sitting in the bleachers on the end of the court starts slinging slurs at one of my teammates, repeatedly. Calling him stuff like "Tonto," "Cochise," etc. Funny thing was, my buddy was Colombian, not Native American, but he did look stereotypically Native American (long hair and all).

In the middle of the game, my buddy walks past the base line and confronts the guy in the stands. Big, stupid looking fat ***. Fat *** takes a big swing at my buddy and misses. My buddy hits him three times in the nose and mouth before Fat *** even knows he's been hit. Blood all over the floor. Dogpile.

By the time campus security arrived, Fat *** had split. My buddy got ejected from the game, but we still hung on to win. Worst part about the story is that our douche-bag opponents petitioned the IM Board to award them the game, on the grounds that our player fighting with a non-player (whom they denied was affiliated with them) should have resulted in an automatic DQ. Bunch of *******. Naturally, they lost the appeal.

the best basketball game I ever saw, live or in person, was not the NBA finals, playoffs, March madness, HS playoffs but an IM game at gregory between 2 teams of UT football players in 1987. Metcalf, TJones , and a few others. Went to 2 or 3 OTs and was won on a FT with no time left . A lineman hit a FT with no one in the box and promplty gave the finger to everyone in the crowd which was about 90 % black. Crowd went nuts. Best game of all time, better than KU-Duke.

that is eerily similar to the TSU/Arkansas pine bluff ending. except for the blood part.
