Cowherd Leaves ESPN

Good for him. Following through on his "Dan Patrick" goading.

I've followed the national ESPN radio guys since about 2000, and while I disliked Cowherd more than pretty much any of their other on-air talent, I'm glad he's making that leap and getting out from under the thumb of the corporation.

I'll continue to ignore him as a syndicated host. I love sports and sports talk, but after a while all the self-promotion and conjured up controversial opinions get old.

It was pretty easy to see that coming. I listen to him a little every week, and you could tell something was up.

Sports talk radio is really bad, but at least Colin put a little thought into what he said. If he wasn't just so full of himself, and didn't spend half of his shows telling everybody how great he is it would be a pretty good show.

You aren't kidding, especially nationally--Since SVP is gone Russillo is like Scottie Pippen without Jordan, and don't even get me started on Dan LeRetard

In that particular interview, it just felt like Jim agreed to the interview beforehand, but then wasn't in the mood for it, for whatever reason, when it was time to talk.

And I'd also guess that Harbaugh does better at interviews in person. I know Harbaugh can be intense, but the interviewer can't feel that when it's over the phone.

I hate contentious phone conversations personally, and I bet Harbaugh feels the same way, and he needs his intense body language in person to do the job well. You need to be there in person to glare someone in the eye!

Phone interviews are generally a disaster.

All that said, I'm not a giant Cowherd fan. Being an obvious phallus doesn't bode particularly well for him. Maybe he should have a lunch or two with Bob Costas?
