Do not worry. This does not belong on 3:16.

I just bought a new house and would like to cover the weep holes from insects and such. I thought I could just attach some screen with silicon to the brick. However, I have found these nifty units. The Link

Anybody have any ideas, like the best one, for doing this? I do not want to pay a bug man to do this. Has anybody seen these units around town, so I do not have to buy from the internet? Thanks in advance.

you could just shove the weep hole full of steel wool, that's what I did. It will keep most bugs out, costs a few bucks, that's it.

How much steel wool do you put in the hole...? Do you pack it in tight...?

Also, have you had any issues with rust stains leaking from the hole.

I used a stainless steel scouring pad and cut it up into pieces and stuffed the hole enough to keep a small coachroach or spider out.

never thought about rust, last house was red brick, in a new house now.

you can also buy bronze wool, which doesn't rust. I've used this before to fill holes where mice/ rats where chewing. They won't chew on any metal like that. I figure it's worth the extra $ to buy the bronze wool so I don't have to replace the steel wool- it disinegrates over time. Bronze Wool

I had pest control come out and do this when we moved in the house. I want to say it was a copper mesh they stuffed in there. No rust problems, 3 years later, and you can't hardly see the stuff.
