Count Dooku (episode II)

watched the movie recently again on Spike.

My question -- when Obi-Won is captured and Dooku is chatting to him, Dooku mentions that the Republic is being run by Sidious (the eventual "Emperor"). But while Dooku is affiliated with the separatists, he is also playing both sides with Sidious.

Why would he spill the beans on this, exactly?

I want to know why he wasn't called Darth Dooku? I thought he was the other half of the Sith after Darth Maul was killed.

He was certainly considered a Sith. Calling him Darth would give him away I guess. He was in charge of the separatists as the role of the 'problem' to Sidious' 'solution' ( in a hegelian dialectic sort of way). Either way, the galaxy was going to end up fascist and they needed each other in order to enact this plan.

Dooku's Sith name is "Darth Tyrannus". Not sure if he's just taunting Obi-Wan that another Sith is out there, or if he really has an agenda in trying to replace Sidious.

i'm pretty sure the word "sucked" doesn't appreciate being used in the same sentence as Episode II.

Wasn't he trying to recruit Obi-Wan?

I don't know, I think Lucas tried to get smart with some of that stuff and it didn't come off real well. At all.

And who the hell was Sifo Dias? Was it just an alias Dooku was using?

And why weren't the Jedi suspicious that Jango Fett worked for the Clone factory guys and Count Dooku at the same time??

Maybe the new Clone Wars show will shed some light on this. but I doubt it.

I also didn't understand why Dooku was trying to tell Obi Wan about the sith. Was he trying to join forces with Obi Wan and both together destroy the sith? If so, that should have been a theme big enough to warrant further explanation, no?

Dooku was a great pupil of Yoda and a well respected Jedi Master before he turned. He got disillussioned with how the Jedi were operating. So then he turned, he wasn't some *** like Sidious or Maul. Kind of reluctant, never really bought in hard core to the Sith and I think and that leads to him talking to Obi Wan.

I think he was feeling out Kenobi, seeing if Kenobi was like he was, willing to work another way. And as is the way of the Sith, Dooku would've happily? smartly? tried to overthrow Sidious and become master if he could persuade Obi Wan to turn. From what I gather, the Sith are treacherous like that.

As for Master Sifo Dias. Dooku and Dias were bros. Dias was killed by Dooku as part of the subterfuge regarding the close army.

You too can spout off stuff like this if you get bored and spend days clicking around Wookiepedia (Star Wars wiki).

Yes, I am a geek. Shoulda seen me back in school. I have a living breathing human girlfriend so hush.

they were brothers?????

I thought they were the same guy. is it in the movie that says they're brothers??

dang it got to confusing

Personally I think it's because George Lucas is an awful writer and has no problems going back after the fact and concocting explanations for his plot issues.

Those cloners didn't know one jedi from another. Why did Dooku actually have to kill a jedi to order the clone army?

For that matter, instead of having to "rebuild" Anakin after he got his *** kicked by Obi Wan, why didn't Palpatine just clone him? (And make him loyal like they did with the storm troopers)

The conversation between Dooku and Kenobi is a lot like Vader's with Luke at the end of The Empire Strikes Back. Dooku is trying to turn Kenobi to "his" side by telling him that a Sith lord rules the senate and that only together can Sidious be stopped, as opposed to the Jedi stopping him. Of course, it's a lie - Dooku just wants Kenobi to believe that joining forces (and therefore leaving the Jedi behind) is the only way to sucessfully stop Sidious. It's much like how Sidious lies to Anakin about how the only way to save Padme is to embrace the dark side. It's obviously a lie, but in Anakin's case he's not smart enough to see through it.

As for Sifodyas, the movie says very little about him, except that he was killed before the Kaminoans said they were contacted about creating the clone army. When you put that together with Jango Fett saying he was recruited by a man named Tyrannus (who is really Dooku; Sidious calls him Tyrannus at the end of the movie), it is reasonable to assume that Dooku took on Sifodyas' identity when talking with the Kaminoans.

What is unclear to me is: Who erased the existence of Kamino from the Jedi archives, and when & how did he do it?

Yeah I've gone to wookipedia, but I think most of that crap is made up.

Why did Dooku abandon the Jedi order? And was it a violent seperation? Dooku was qui-gon's master I believe.
