Could BYU help land Notre Dame?

If the Big 12 gets BYU, there would be 2 parochial private schools in the league which might appeal to Notre Dame in addition to having their say in TV rights.

However; the catch-22 is that Notre Dame probably won't make a move until superconference plate techtonics begin to shift and that seems most likely only if the Big 12 breaks up.

No, Notre Dame is not coming to the Big XII, it just isnt happening. When and if they move to a conference for football it will be the B1G. The place ultimately I still think Texas ends up in down the line.

I second FWHORN. For all of you that think Notre Dame is joining the Big12, quit wasting your time. It.won't.happen...

Why would Notre Dame want to give up games against teams like Michigan, Michigan State, USC, Navy, Stanford in exchange for Iowa State, Kansas State, Baylor and Tech?

When nd decides to join a conference, they will join the big 10. I can't believe how many threads have been devoted to this topic. Nd will never join the big xii. However, byu is a must get and would be a great addition to the big xii. Byu has the largest following in the western us. The mormons are everywhere and devoted fans. Byu has their own network too and its successful and carried by the major carriers. They also have their own xm radio station.

Joining the Big 10 regionalizes ND, it will never happen.

ND sees itself as National not regional.

Under current ND administration they will not join the Big10. I don't see them joining any conference but it will not be the Big10 unless something dramatically alters.

Other than ND, BYU has the largest following of any available school out there, with WV a distant second. Hence, BYU is a must take even if the addition of BYU extends the boundaries of the B12 into the middle of nowhere.

Once the B12 repopulates with a bunch of non-AAU schools like BYU, WV, Louisville, South Florida, TCU, Boise State, etc. -- basically any school out there that's available -- the B12 will become the dunce conference. Even the SEC will have more AAUs than the B12 if MO joins the SEC. Texas and Kansas will be all that's left in the B12, while the SEC would have Vandy, A&M, Mizzou, and FL.

ND isn't going to join a dunce league. It just isn't. Therefore, no, BYU joining the B12 would have no effect on ND.

I can't believe Texas will stay in a dunce league either, but we'll see.

If Texas were to join the B1G, then I could see ND joining also.

SportICT: Iowa State. I missed them. I feel marginally smarter already.

Gone to Texas: Google "CIC" with Big 10, and you might be surprised at what you find.

Notre Dame ain't coming through the door and into the Big 12, and for that matter, the Horns are NOT staying in the Big 12 beyond the next two to three years.

No inside knowledge here, but UT's first interest has apparently always been the B1G, and that's the only conference the Domers would have any interest in joining. My money's on the Horns and Irish eventually going B1G, say by 2016.
