Sorry...I apparently was mistaken in giving you credit for an ability to think rationally and at multiple levels.

You premised an argument on ONE person dying. I clearly countered to point out other issues where a risk COULD exist but where we don't shut things down. I expected you would be able to figure out analogous thoughts.

Generally, it's the usual advice... masks... social distancing... stay away from large crowds... isolate as much as possible...

Arguable it's because of the holiday weekend. People like to party. They know it. We know it.

But it's also California here in Austin and they like to act as if they're on top of the science and the problem; also they like to stick it to the Governor, who relishes the inverse.
 
Bystander has it right with tone...I didn't listen to the whole call. I caught the 'stay home' bit at the beginning though. AustinPublicHealth wants you to be afraid of your shadow.

Reminded me of why I am glad I have not lived within the actual City limits for more than 20 years. We don't play that crap out towards Rollingwood and West Lake Hills...we even like our plastic bags!

Of course now that I think about it, I never look at my land Lind since no one I know calls that number. So maybe I do get calls like that but just am not aware.
 
King Adler has decreed that Austin will stay in lockdown until mid-December. Of course there won't be any reason to lift the lockdown then either. If he cared about science he would have opened things up months ago.

I did not premise ONE person dying. I premised mask wearing. Apparently we need English Composition as a refresher course.
 
Back in July I was possibly exposed to Covid19. I checked in with my doctor and was told if I started having symptoms they would prescribe those 2 drugs plus zinc. At that point they had a 100% recovery rate.

We know why. Had Trump lied and downplayed these drugs as having promise in treating Covid, doctors would be going wild prescribing them and the media would be touting their effectiveness. You know, since the media, CNN/MSNBC, and Dems flat out say he is such a liar, it's odd that he gave his true feelings on the drugs' possible effects on Covid.

And why should I be expected to trust anything the government or media says from here on out? I already don't believe them, though.

I would actually join a protest over the mask mandates and lockdowns.

If sorry to get into the middle here but lockdowns and masks are 2 different issues in IMO......Lockdowns, NO...masks, YES

It may have been reasonable to proceed cautiously in March and April. It's beyond well known now, however, that most people just don't get very sick from this. Amazing how many people wearing masks think they may have it since the masks protect OTHERS, not themselves. I see tons of fat and old people in masks. If they have it, the media narrative is even more false.

Total BS.

So what if the kids are not going to the hospital....If they are commuters or live at home the have a better chance of spreading it to older people
 
Question for the most knowledgeable people in this disussion. I have some friends -parents and 17 yr old daughter

daughter test positive - quarantine for 14 days
then mom tests positive - quarantined for 14 day
dad tested now 9 times and always negative

How?

The dad was sick first and likely had some cross-immunity.

The solution is to invite the kids back to campus and encourage parties off campus every night for 2 weeks while doing remote learning. After 2 weeks, student body has reached herd immunity and no longer a threat to teachers and staff. It’s called vaccination by party. Why wait for the shot?

The current policy is akin to the stupid zero tolerance policy for K-4 graders regarding all sorts of (innocent) behavior. This was eventually discarded for the stupidity it was.

Why are the older people not at home? If they are vulnerable and feel at risk, why are they out? If they know the risks and go out to a grocery or something, why is everyone else responsible for them?
