Freedom isn't a joke. We all own our own bodies and our property. The government doesn't own us which means that don't have the right to restrict our freedom. To do that is a form of slavery.
I would not attend, but I am not a biker either. I can only guess the city of Sturgis depends upon this rally to economically survive. I guess the option is to cancel it and insert a 10,000% tax increase?
As for the attendees, I respect their freedom to assemble. I also respect the freedom of some people to lock themselves inside a bubble rather than force everyone else to live in fear like they do.
The same freedoms we have enjoyed since founding this nation that have been reduced during the management of this virus. Freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and freedom of religion to name a few.
Those same people could die from a car wreck, other disease or suicide. It does not change the need of Americans to live free.
I am among those who dislike Trump but was hopeful for hydroxychloroquine. As a rule, I really like cheap drugs that have been used so long the patents are gone. (My doctors know this.) I think I'm reasonably intelligent, but not confident enough to recommend or dismiss the value of medical treatments based on what I hear from journalists, Hornfans, Facebook, politicians and the like. A long list of side effects doesn't worry me much... cause most drugs have them.JFu
You are going to upset the haters on here. Didn't one if them post all the pro HCQ articles were false
I agree, but let’s add smokers, fat people and drug abusers.I don't want to die because of them having a good time and hiding behind the Constitution to do it.
NO PUBLIC ASSISTANCE WHEN THEY GET SICK.
Of course that would never happen.
Motorcyclists are not easy for the risk-averse to control. Riding a bike to South Dakota and enjoying the great outdoors is probably pretty darned safe. Hanging out in biker bars. ... I've joked with people that my immune system was hardened by working in the prisons of Texas in the mid-80s. And then I became a poker player. My immune system would be on a jet-ski mocking some public toilets...Motorcyclists are not easy for the risk-averse to control. The masks are to protect others. We had two clinicians test positive this week only to test negative two days later with a more sensitive test. Anyone think they positive numbers are corrected?
Also, take a day and just count the number of people you see wearing their mask improperly (nose or mouth exposed). I am sitting in a smaller airport and I have counted 29 in the last hour. The country is relying on a failed strategy and bad data.
There is no evidence that masks protect others. And I guarantee someone wearing a mask, but exposing their nose protects nobody. The masks are to protect others.
I think it is safe to say there is no peer reviewed scientific study that has conclusively proven cloth mask work for this specific virus. I think there is lots of anecdotal evidence (say what has happened in South Korea) and how effectively such masks inhibit bacterial spread. Admittedly virus are much smaller than bacteria, but what we know about dangerous spread of COVID is that a lot is required to start illness and that means droplets, not just a random individual. There is no evidence that masks protect others. I switched to a cloth mask over a surgical mask because I find it more comfortable and I think neither really works. When I checked into one of my hospitals last week with the cloth mask, the nurse said,”you will have to put on a surgical mask because cloth does not work.”
It’s a failed strategy that idiot America has gobbled up like popcorn in a movie theatre.
I wonder why in March Fauci, the CDC and WHO all said masks were not necessary? Masks are not new technology. They know what they stop and what they cannot stop. They are just keeping the public away from N-95’s.I think it is safe to say there is no peer reviewed scientific study that has conclusively proven cloth mask work for this specific virus. There was an article in Slate about this. When medical professionals say masks, they are only thinking N95. When the public folks was saying everyone should wear masks, the medical professionals owners mistook that for N95. The groundswell from the public however was for cloth masks until medical or N95 masks were readily available again. Classic miscommunication problem. The people wanted masks, mostly cloth. The professionals didn’t understand the issue.I wonder why in March Fauci, the CDC and WHO all said masks were not necessary? Masks are not new technology. Agreed but medical professionals should have endorsed clothe masks from the beginning and we wouldn’t be having this argument.N95 masks shouldn't be worn for more than an hour or two at a time. If there is immediate serious danger, I would wear longer. But you really can't breath in those things and they have to be sealed properly to work. If you don't, you are more likely to be infected because the N95 will accumulate virus or other particles. I have used them for work when working with nano-level particles that you don't want in your lungs. I had to be trained and tested before I was allowed to use one. Handing them out to the general population is not a good idea. Most people will just make their situation worse and be very uncomfortable in the process.
