cork flooring?

I'll probably end up doing a laminate, but cork intrigues me. Anyone have experience with it? Question: will my cat love to dig her claws into it and mess it up?

I would think that it isn't a very resiliant material. Might be more trouble than it's worth.

Cork flooring is a very durable material. We are considering putting it in some of the rooms of a house we are building. A good source in Austin that can give you all the information about cork flooring is Environmental Depot located on Hwy. 290 past the "y" in Oak Hill. They have lots of flooring samples and really know their products.

A) very durable and looks good. They put it in the new sanctuary in our church (St. David;s Episcopal) and it seemed like the on thing you needed to do be really careful about tracking dust on it before they sealed it.

I think it may be subject to pressure indentations which would make sense. It's a fairly common kitchen floor covering.

i've heard it makes for great flooring - very resilient, insect proof and attractive. We've been thinking about cork in our kitchen as well as bamboo.

I've made some duck decoys from cork-- it's amazing how heavy it is. Most cork is ground into small pieces then reformed and glued together under pressure

definately softer than oak though

Very distinctive smell
