Cordless Tele Wireless Network

Has anyone had experience with a cordless telephone screwing up your wireless network at home? I have seen articles about some problems with phones, expecially in the 2.4 range interfering with wireless networks.

My network is 802.11g and apparently the 2.4 phones caused the most problems. I have found several articles, including this one. I need experiences so step forth o knowledgeable ones.

My roomates 2.4ghz phone completely knocks out our wireless when he's using it. But his phone is right next to the wireless router, so we ended up switching phones and it works now. Sometimes u can change what channel the router uses and it will help.

my 2.4 knocks out my wireless as well... my 900mhz phone doesn't however...

any of you guys tried the 5s yet?

Had this exact same issue with my router. If you keep the two units far enough away from each other it helps, but I was still getting a choppy connection on my phone. Went out and bought a 5 ghz phone and it works great.

There really are only a few solutions to this REALLY annoying problem (I just deployed wireless in some coffeehouses in N Oklahoma and had to address this with the owners):

1. Ditch the 2.4 phones for the older 900 or newer 5.+ frequence ones, as 802.11 runs on 2.4.
2. Move the 2.4 phones 10-15 feet from any device or general path of a device using wireless internet - restrict them to a back office or room that won't be using internet.
3. If you have the right equipment, you can lock cell phones and wireless APs to fixed channels. If you can do do, just set both to different channels and it helps, though bleed thru is possible.
