Cool spots in Vegas?

Going to LV for the first time and thought Id ask some personal opinions about some cool places to check out while I have some free time. I am going to hit the casinos and eat a few good meals and see a few shows. But other than that, not to sure what to do besides checking out the hotels.

Any advice is appreciated.

I will be with my wife, no kids so that should limit some things I am sure!

Thanks again.

best place to get a drink with a great view is MIXX. It is on top of the THEHotel at Mandalay Bay. Get there right after dusk..

If you want to get out of the casinos, an ATV tour/adventure in the Valley of Fire is a blast. Not sure if your wife is into that, but it's pretty cool, especially this time of year.

best advice I can give is go to Red Square and go to the Vodka freezer. It is an amazing experience.

If you want to rent a car for a few hours, you can drive down to Hoover Dam and check it out. Go in the morning, takes about 35 minutes to drive there, you can go down in the bowels of the dam and get some great views from the top of the dam. Then on the way back, stop in Henderson (just south of Las Vegas) and get an In N Out double double burger.

If you've never been to Vegas, a piece of advice. Depending on where you're staying, you should get the monorail day pass so you can go up and down the strip quickly. The monorail starts behind the MGM Grand and makes stops at Bally's, Harrahs, Imperial Palace, the convention center, the Las Vegas Hilton and the Sahara. You can also walk across the street from the MGM and go to Excalibur and ride a free monorail to the Lexus and Mandalay Bay.

There is a ton of crap to see in each of the major casinos just walking through. Just as an example, you could go in MGM and see the lion exhibit, then go downstairs and check out the CBS experience -- there is a CBS store and theaters where you can view free showings of pilots for new shows--you rate the shows and give them your opinions. There's all sorts of stuff like that all along the strip.

You can also type in "things to do in Vegas" in Google, and go to the Vegas.com site that it brings up, and it will show what is going on at every major casino in Vegas. I am going to Vegas Saturday--ready to drop a ton of money!

I walked by it last Saturday and it looked like a bunch of people were going in, but who knows. Really mixed crowd. Outside of Pure is a bunch of blackjack tables and all the dealers are hot chicks dressed as the Pussycat Dolls, and there are a couple of cages in the middle of the tables with girls dancing in them. Worth taking a look at.
