Cooking a tenderloin steak

Anyone have any suggestions for how to cook a tenderloin steak? I bought 4 6-8oz tenderloin steaks but have no idea if I need to do anything special to grill them. Should I just throw on some seasoning and grill them like I cook other steaks?

You can grill them, but make sure if you do you grill them over hardwood charcoal not gas. If gas grill is you only option then don't grill them. Rub them with olive oil and put some salt and pepper, or montreal steak seasoning on them. heat up a pan with a small amount of butter. Get it very hot. Sear them in the pan about 3-4 minutes per side then finish them in a 450 degree oven for about 5 minutes for med rare.

If you have a regular charcoal grill then build hardwood charcoal fire on 1 side and sear steaks 3-4 minutes per side over direct flame then move to opposite side and cover for 4 minutes for med rare.

Texas 007 is right on the money. Hardwood charcoal is the absolute best grilling medium there is IMO.

However, I have to try and disuade you from grilling tenderloins. It's real hard do it right on the grill and in my experience, they never come out right. Take his advice and do them in a pan. Sear them about 4 minutes per side on HIGH. Sounds like you're set on grilling them, though, so I hope they come out great for you. If you have a cast iron skillet, you could put it on the grill and cook them that way. Let us know how they turn out!

Oh, and wait until you see what I am grilling tonight!

Thanks for ya'lls suggestions. I followed 007's advice and they turned out great. The only thing I did different was wrap them in bacon and cook it on the wrapped edge by just slowly rolling it.
