Does anyone here have contact info for admins, coaches, facility/events directors over at the Disch ? Specifically email ?

Here is my gripe ... chime in on whether or not it's a valid one.

My group tailgates directly behind the left field foul pole, across the street from the outfield fence. With the new design of the stadium, you can see roughly 50% of the field from our spot. From the foul pole to the left field gates the fence is chain link. We all have tickets, but Friday most of us decided to watch the majority of the action from lawn chairs across the street, beer in hand. It was awesome.

So we roll out to the park about 9 am Saturday, per usual, and what do we see ? The Texas grounds crew installing a ******* plastic tarp over the fence, to prevent people from seeing into the game. WTF ??

Now before you say, stop free-loading, you can't expect to watch from across the street, consider the following :

#1 As mentioned before, we all have tickets.

#2 If you DON'T want people watching from the lot, WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DESIGN YOUR NEW STADIUM IN SUCH A WAY THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN ?

If they don't want to potentially lose out on ticket sales, then fine, good gripe by the University ... but did they really not think of this when putting together the drafts/sketches prior to construction ?

Look at this ******* sketch released by UT when the renovations were announced ... it shows people on the sidewalk looking into the game. Jesus !!

You spend millions on a new renovation, then 8 games in place plastic bags over a fence to stop people from watching from the street. Talk about an eye-sore on an otherwise great stadium.

So, please shoot me any info you may have. I'd like to request the tarps to come down, or at least get their explanation for the design.

Thanks.

So you were part of the crew that had that Rosenblatt parking thing as part of your tailgate. Nice. I should have stopped and bummed a brew off of you.

And I agree, that screen thing was a bush league move.

That's us ... "Rosenblatt Parking ... Left Lane Only".

We've been to Omaha as a group 8 years running, then get pimp slapped in the face with a plastic tarp.

Busch league indeed.

Come have a beer for the KU series.

they are going to extend the 'green monster' all the way around the outfield next. they can take care of ALL freeloaders with that. season ticket and suite sales will go through the roof and the university will never have to worry about another dime.

For the KU series we talked about each of us bringing a ladder, setting them up across the street.

We'll then hold up posters saying, "We don't have tickets, but can still see the game."

If you have tickets, go into the game. If you would rather drink beer, listen to the radio. It's pretty dang simple.

I noticed that crap to. At one of the VCU games we watched batting practice from there. It was really cool. Whats with all this crap they are doing. First they put up no parking signs in right field for the buses and the right field crazies, now they put up that tarp. Why dont they just build a dome over the damn thing and screw the game day atmosphere in the empty LF donation parking lots. For the VCU game we tailgated in that small parking lot beind all the Foundation parking and pay lots. ( im sure it want be free much longer). This time because we couldnt see batting practice from the fence i backed my truck up to the yellow cable line and we sat in the back of it watching the teams warm up and drinking a few adult beverages. Some UT parking nazi came by and said that it would be $50 dollars to park there but that it was ok to park in a space. Last game there were 6 cars parked along this curb and cable. And yes we had tickets and went into the game and stayed and watched all 9 innings( oops **** stanford,8 innings.)

Please do not rent a helicopter from which to view the games, because they will put up an inflatable bubble over the field. That would suck.

No response from the office after a day and a half ... about what I expected.

At least mix in a canned response saying my concern is important to them.

Barton Hills, you will not get a response from the coaches. They are told to stay out of these things. I would advise an email or phone call to Jim Baker, AAD in charge of men's athletic facilities. His email is [email protected]. I dealt with him on the Right Field no parking issue. He was very nice and responded the same day I emailed him. He told me the Athletic Dept was neutral and to deal with the city. But since this is obviously the University's call, he'd be the one to do something about it or at least give you an explanation.

Good luck. Trust me, I feel your pain.

Not that the baseball office doesn't have nefarious reasons, but there's a plainly good reason for the green coverings:

Now that we're playing night games, cars in that parking lot will shine headlights right onto the field, and right into the eyes of a left handed batter. The covering will break up the bright lights.
