Consensus opinons of college BB players

That's Right

For the last 3 or so years I've looked up the bio's of many college basketball players, and especially UT bball players. Go to the site and look up the current players bios if you'd like. I can assure that all of our curent players have had the same answers as players in the past on 2 questions in particular:

What would you most lie to see changed about the recruiting process? Consensus answer: Limit number of phone calls from coaches to players.

What rule would you most like to see changed in CBB? Consensus answer: Shorten the shot clock.

So, if this is pretty much the consensus opinion of the kids playing the games, making the Universities and sponors and networks and websites millions and millions of dollars, then why is there never any debate or discussion on these topics? How hard would it be to just send out surveys to all the teams in D-1 and see what the players opinons are and then act on them, or at least consider them?

Uh-oh...This thread is about to go south in a hurry.

As for the original topic....I would certainly agree about the shot-clock....I've never understood the need for a 35 second shot clock. I find it especially annoying at the end of the game. If your shorten the clock then teams have more possessions at the end and we don't start the fouling crap as early.

And when did those new rules on coaches calling recruits come into effect, because I don't remember that happening either in the last 3 years. But at least you succeeded at being a smartass.

Watching so much college basketball this week has really reinforced my opinion that the shot clock needs to be shortened. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a team just do nothing but pass the ball around the court forever, basically no one moving without the ball, and then after about 15 seconds of that they decide to reset and still have about 15 seconds left on the shot clock. That is ridiculous.

The game would be more exciting, and would better prepare players for the NBA with a shorter shot clock. I can't imagine KD, or Beasley, or Griffin's numbers if they were shooting more, along with other people missing more creating more rebound opportunities. I hope that change is made.

I agree that they should go to something like the NBA shot clock, or if they want to be different make it 25 seconds.

I don't know what the rules are regarding the phone calls, but I have heard recruits comment that one reason they committed early - and it seems that it is getting earlier and earlier - was to keep the coaches from hounding them, although I am sure some still do.

30 seconds is very reasonable.

I still think that each team should only get 3 timeouts per half. The end of each half might actually be exciting.
