Arizona and Kentucky will probably miss this year. I don't see Kansas or Duke missing anytime soon.

I agree that Kentucky is toast, but I think Arizona gets in with a win tonight. Even if they lose, I think they have some hope.

I wouldn't be all that surprised to see UK win their conference tourney. They have the two best players in a very mediocre SEC. Patterson is a beast. They've played like utter dung of late, but the referees will no doubt see a benefit to an extra SEC team in the Dance. An "upset" winner of their tournament will get them to what, 4 teams in? I don't see how South Carolina is still in although they swept UK. I am glad Aggy lost, so if KSU beats us, someone else can get the bump.

UT went to 8 tournaments in 10 years under Tom Penders.

There was this loser on the old 360 board who was totally bent out of shape about Penders being canned who used to have a recurring post titled "Barnes Basketball Meter" where he would post a comparison of Penders vs. Barnes at UT hoping to prove what a horrible move this was. In memory of this simpleton, I'd like to update it...

Sweet 16s: Penders 2, Barnes 5
Regional Finals: Penders 1, Barnes 3

He didn't mention Final Fours, 1st round draft picks, or players drunk-dialed at 3AM, for obvious reasons...

You can go ahead and add to the total tourney record now. Unless the Horns win two the winning percentage will go down some.

Funny stuff though. I remember that type of banter going around back then too.


Also, I'm not sure how Arizona could possibly make it into the tourney after losing it's last game:

19-13 overall
9-10 in conference
2-1 against the top 25
5-9 against the top 50
8-12 against the top 100 (with one loss outside the top 100)

Kentucky is still in the running though since they are still in the SEC tourney.
