Says he wants to commit in the next 2 weeks, and it looks like it's OU vs UT. Also says academics and social aspect are important, which would seem to favor UT greatly. Of course, they all say that, but PT usually wins out.

I like how this Oklahoma newspaper says that they have more things going their way. It may be true, but wouldn't throw the petroleum engineering major in there because we're ranked higher in that department.

My recommendation. Skip the article, its nothing but fluff trash.

However the

comments after the article are funny and pretty much representative of every exchange between OU and Texas fans on the internet.

Realistically, what are we looking at with Connor? Is Gilbert or even Case McCoy going to make a significant impact on his decision?

On the surface, blOwU's QB situation looks a bit more inviting than ours for playing time, if not by much. Where is Wood leaning?

If Connor wants earlier playing time, okie probably has the edge. If he's really a competitor, and wants to be challenged at the highest level, plus get a great education to prepare him for after his football career, then UT's the place. If the petroleum engineering school is really that big of a factor, there's no way he picks the paper clips over the Horns.

Let's not forget that Landry Jones was a pretty highly touted QB in his own right, and will be a RS-FR next year. If GG doesn't redshirt next year (seems 50/50?), then the depth charts are about even.

With Garrett coming in 2009, likely redshirting, and likely starting in 2010-2013, and GD recruiting Case, I see Connor as the Jevan Snead in this equation. I'd rather see him go somewhere other than ou. Comments?

First, GG will not redshirt. With our horrible non-conference schedule next year, GG can get plenty of PT and should take advantage.

Second, QBs should not fear competition. I actually have always had a little appreciation for Jevan's character because he did not shy away from the competition at Texas (although he did skip over Florida because of Brantley). If Connor wants to come to Texas, Case's commitment should not scare him away.

Actually, he came to Texas when Colt had already been here a year and competed for the starting job with him his freshman year. Do you blame a guy for transferring when he is beat out by a RS freshman when he is a freshman? Competing against a guy that gets every snap in a game is not a smart way to build a career. He would have sat behind Colt for 4 years and never been able to play.

Snead did what he should have done for himself. He found a place where he could have the show to himself...can't blame him for that. Bob Dylan said you don't need to be a weatherman to know which way the wind's blowing...Snead saw Colt being the man here.

I agree with Howard. Snead transferring doesn't say anything about his character, either way.

All we know is that he was going to Florida and switched to Texas because he didn't want to compete with Tebow. Then, he transferred from Texas to Ole Miss because he couldn't compete with Colt. Not that I blame him.

I wouldn't get too wrapped up in this kid. Seems like a good kid, but I just don't see us getting him. Like someone else said, I just hope OU doesn't get him.

Actually, I said I appreciated Snead's character for coming to Texas in the first place to compete with Colt. I did not say anything about his transfer and what they said about him or his character. But thanks for putting words in my mouth.

I agree with the former. He bailed on Florida bc of not wanting to battle for QB spot. He came to Texas not worrying one bit about a nothing recruit named Colt. He lost the competition, and can't blame him for leaving because he wanted an opportunity to start. Think if he had stayed here, alot were calling for Colt's head his sophmore slump year and wanting to see more of Chiles (what probably would have been a battle in the spring would have become a full blown controversy if Snead was here).

Not saying he's a bad kid, or even made the wrong decision. I just wouldn't say he thrives on challenges/competition for his position. He bailed on two instances where competition was evident, and then looked for the opportunity that was gift wrapped with no competition.

whatever his character. He's starting for an SEC team that is climbing the respect charts, is being spoken of for his ability and improving game by game. We are sitting at a computer talking about him. I don't think he's too worried about having to compete or what we think. I think he realizes he made the smart moves ultimately.

In regards to Wood, if he says he's going to okie because of playing time I'll respect him. If he says he's going to okie for mechanical engineering..well I'll make sure he's not building anything I'll climb or sit in or on.

Any of you inside rivals guys heard any news on him today? I hears some potentially good news through the grapevine and trying to confirm.

While you want recruits to come in who are not afraid to compete for a position, you can't blame a kid for transferring later when he sees he has little or no chance of ever playing meaningful snaps (barring injury). We are talking about a kid's football future. How could you expect them to leave that to chance?

If Snead thought it was in his best interest in terms of getting to the NFL to transfer, then I've got no problem with it. He seems extraordinarly prescient now considering the successes of Tebow and McCoy. The stories like those of Matt Cassel and Brad Johnson, who barely played in college and then somehow became starters in the NFL, are few and far between.
