I've waited a long time for this. I went to the Rangers' very first game in Arlington, and I worked at the old stadium when I was in high school. And I've seen a lot of crappy ball.
I've been in love with this team since 1972, and it feels so good for that love to finally be returned.
I am so happy for this team, RW, the franchise, Nolan & Greenburg and its long time suffering fans... including me. Give the credit to the team but especially to Cliff Lee who was money tonight... no walks and 13 k's?
Thank you Jon Daniels & Nolan and Greenberg. You set the table with a quality manager who knew how to develop chemistry, when given enough talent to win a playoff series. GO RANGERS!!!
Another round of hearty congratulations to all you Rangers fans out there. What an exciting run, and to get there by beating the backyard bully--dominating him, actually--must be a swell feeling.
Year after year, I couldn't help but frown and sigh at every "Will the Rangers make the playoffs?" thread in this forum. But this season has been unlike any other that's come before, and I can't imagine a more deserving group of fans.
Thanks Jim. I was fortunate to be at the game tonight, and to see the fans all so very happy was really the ultimate I think. You probably heard Michael Young interviewed - about being on this team for so many years and this was his first postseason - and he said I can only imagine what the fans were feeling...and he's right. It is the team, the organization that provides the fans the good times...but it is the fans who are there year in and year out long after the players go.
