Greg Swindell is a true legend of Texas baseball and I think he more than deserves to have his jersey retired.

But,

would it have killed him to spit out the gum, set the water down, tuck in his shirt and at least wear khakis? I can't get the audio, so his physical appearance and mannerisms are accentuated.

Knowing him, I guess I'm not surprised. But yeah, the water bottle in the back pocket makes it look like he's standing in the parking lot talking to Scott Wilson and the crew.

Would have like to hear the audio.

Absolutely! Coach Gus will always be my favorite UT coach. We have lots of great ones, but I had the pleasure of meeting him one morning at Disch before baseball camp (my son was attending). He had finished working out and was drinking a cup of coffee. We stood out by the old batting cages and conversed for at least an hour. He then made a point the next day to find my son and wish him luck in his upcoming little league season.

On a side note the only other coach I spent any time talking to was John Mac and I gotta say he was equally entertaining. We didn't talk defense though

It wouldn't have been Zeke if he was all fancied up. And the water bottle was a useful crutch for the several times that he was overwhelmed with emotion, so I sure as **** am not going to begrudge him that.

It was a humble and heartfelt thank you, with acknolwegement of all the right people -- his coaches, teammates, family, and fans. We all laughed a little and cried a little.

I thought it was perfect.

By the pics I saw, he was wearing LONGHORN gear....quite appropriate wouldn't u say?

And yes, chewing gum is a no no, but my guess is he was very very nervous, and chewing gum helped that. So what?

Be glad he was a LONGHORN AND NOT A SOONER.
