Conference Championships

Does anyone know if there is a formula for conferences that have more than 12 teams I mean how do they schedule regular season?

Must be set by each conference since some do 8 game schedules (SEC) and some do 9 (Big 10 starting in 2016).

Yes, the 11-team Big 10 (1990-2010) didn't play round robin. You could probably google to determine the tie breaker rules during that period.

Yeah, whoever went to the Rose Bowl for the longest time in the past got the tiebreaker (for bowl pairing). So if Michigan last went in 2005 and Illinois went in 1990, then Illinois won the tiebreaker for the Rose Bowl.

That's how I remember it. A couple MU grads I used to work with some years back, explained that was the tie breaker in the Big 10
