Interpol at Emo's in about a week or so...though I would imagine that this show should sell out considering the size of Emo's. If you liked JodDivision, you'll like Interpol.
SXSW is still a must do. Spread the wristband cost over 3 nites and it's a good deal. Just scanning the list, and plenty of good bands coming in - Dirtbombs, Core of Soul, Mind Candy, the Silos, etc etc. You also get the whack bands from the far east as a nice side show.
i go to SXSW every year, and its one of the best weeks in the year for me. i can easily see 20+ bands, especially when i go to in-stores as well. i usually have a great time every year.
How long have you been going to SXSW? It used to be a $30-$35 wristband and you could actually get in to SEE some of the bands (novel idea) and hop from bar to bar to check out 3-4, sometimes even 5 bands each night. Some you might have heard of before, but most were unknowns and people went to check them out from word of mouth. It was pretty damned cool!
Now how much does a wristband cost, and what do you get for what you pay? You get to stand in line if you want to see a band with any buzz whatsoever, and you spend time waiting in line that you could be using to check out more music. The thing's become more of a moneymaker than an actual place to showcase up and coming bands.
