Conan

Yeah a lot of the show seemed forced. Seth Rogen even joked about how he wasn't famous enough to be the first guest.

I'm not a Conan fan but maybe those who are could answer this for me. Is this move to TBS the beginning of the end? The layoff was long, TBS, although not obscure, it's not a natural tune in channel leads me to think it's an out of sight, out of mind thing.

He should have gone to HBO if that was even an option for him. He's not been funny for awhile now. At times he is but not so much. There he could push envelopes and do whatever he wanted to.

i like conan. certainly much more than either letterman or leno. i think the show format itself (for all of those late night type shows) is just boring and played out. maybe that's just me.
i occasionally see clips from jimmy kimmel that are hilarious but i just don't ever watch the show.
i did hear that conan's ratings for the first show were very high for TNT but that that is not really saying much.

I think TBS is a stopping point for him until it gets tired. He's up against the evening news, and no one remembers to tune to basic cable at that hour. That'll be within 3 years.

Then he'll finally go to "pay" cable and do all of the dirty stuff for which he's been known for 20 years. Probably HBO.

When/if he ends up on an HBO type channel with the ability to be "dirty" I hope he does so sparingly. I would hate for him to be over the top just because he can. If the sketch calls for it, fine. But don't shock for the sheer ability to do so. That would suck.
