for whatever reason, my computer is running slower than ****. when i hit ctrl-alt-del to check it out, it shows my processes/cpu % at 100. this can't be good.

i've powered everything down (aol im, etc) and it's still at 100. i uninstalled my antivirus and anything else that could be cluttering it up. i ran adaware and spybot and got rid of a few things.

anyone have any other advice?

there's not really one that is using it, and there are only 4-5 over 10,000K:

iexplore.exe - 31,744k
svchost.exe - 21,728k
explorer.exe - 19,740k
iexplore.exe - 19,600k
jlsesbaiko.exe - 17,812k

everything else is under 4700k or so

there are 33 processes running, which obviously is a ton, but if they're not using up a lot of k, it shouldn't matter, right? the commit charge seems very high, and it's almost as if the total amount of memory is not being accessed.

If AVG is giving you the name of the trojan, you can do a search at the Symantec Anti-Virus center and you will find instructions on removing the virus.

Try housecall.trendmicro.com. Some viruses can disable your antivirus software, especially AVG.

Run the full scan at housecall. That should help. Afterwards, download the 30 day trial of Spy Sweeper atThe Link Use Adaware, Spybot S&D, and then Spy Sweeper. Make sure you update the definitions for each one before you scan.

Try checking your active processes against one or both of these lists, they might help you identify any problems:

Tasklist

FILExt

You also need to make sure all of your spyware, malware and virus canners are up to date.
