Computer Problem

My machine went wacko over the holidays. I am jsut trying to figure out how to backup some music. Its boots up, very slowly, but then I can't open any folders. I can run some programs, but I can't explore any folders. I jsut want to copy some tunes to CD, but can't figure out how to get to them. Any ideas?

4th HD in 4 years to crash on me.

i figured it out. i had to get the data onto another HD and then over to a new machine. mechanical failure in some sector in the HD. I was able to save almost everything thanks to a computer genius friend.
