Complaints about world cup

the games will get better, so far we have been watching some of the worst teams. argentina looked like they were going to kill nigeria, they had a ton of chances to only come out with a 1-0 win. oh well, i dont think early round play is very exciting anyway, most team afraid to take a loss and willing to play for a draw.

my complaints so far and they are glaring. alexi lalas is the biggest boob ive ever seen. he seems to have an axe to grind with a lot of people and he is completely full of crap. also, someone take the horns away from the africans. its getting too much to handle. i have to turn the sound off.

i'm not completely opposed to draws in the round robin matches, but i would like to see an overtime period (non golden-goal). i love lalas, i don't agree that he's overly harsh to anyone specifically, i like how he shoots from the hip and even if i don't agree with all of his comments he does have some reason and intelligence behind them.

They don't necessarily end in a tie even if they score the same amount of goals. How many goals scored compared to those of opponents matters. It's goal differential. In other competitions such as the Champions League it can be goals on aggregate. If you scored 2 away goals in a loss v. a team and they scored 1 goal on your home pitch in a loss, you advance. Why? Because you were plus 1 away goal with the same result points (win, loss or tie) as they had.

There is a lot of drama in a game as it goes along if it is tied. Your guts tighten up each time the other side gets close or a set piece (corner, penalty kick, etc). It may end in a tie but damn it is tense while the game goes on. Don't focus so much on the end and enjoy the journey getting there knowing there is a way to settle things if it does tie. Maybe not the day of the match but when the dust settles.

Scoring goals at this level of competition is very, very difficult. Ties are a reality. Scoring in basketball, football, baseball etc is just easier, plain and simple. Having an overtime is cool and all, but after 120 minutes of game time, if the score is tied, how long you want to keep playing?

Keep in mind one half of a soccer game is pretty much an entire basketball game and its 3/4s of an entire NFL game. A hole game plus overtime would be two entire NFL games. Draws are a reality. Scoring shouldnt be forced to be made easier. If neither team can score, they can suck it.
