Compact/midsize diesel trucks

Are any coming out anytime soon? Mitsu, Toyota, and Nissan all have their respective mid-sized pick-ups, but none are available in the US. I looked into buying a diesel Toyota Hilux in Mexico but getting it legal here looks to be impossible. I fell in love with the one I drove through the mountains in Guatemala. Nasty inclines, slow pace, and constant 4wd and I was still getting 25mpg.

Are Chrysler, GM, and/or Ford coming out with anything anytime soon?

How in the hell did I miss that? That's kind of old news.

But cool. Any idea on when they're becoming available? I was thinking of something smaller, but that'll do.

GMs diesel will be out the summer of 2009 for 2010 model year trucks.. Full mileage is expect to be 30mph for a 1/2 truck. Currently a 1/2 truck gets about 22mph. You could see mid 30's for mileage if they add their 2-mode hybrid system

IMO this is going to sell well for GM. The engine is the same size as a small block. What's to stop GM from putting this engine in a Impala or Camaro. 310HP with over 500 ft. of torque sounds like fun to me
