Coming to Austin for a job interview...

My wife and I are coming into town this weekend for a job interview. Can you give some advice on restaurants, specifically good Mexican food? Any good restaurants around Lake Travis with a view? Moderators...I know this isn't football related, but there is so much more traffic over here, sorry.

'The Oasis' out on Lake Travis has probably the best view of any restaurant around here. The food is only so-so Tex-Mex.

I like the Seranos on Red River.

Banished to the lonely Around Austin board.

Here's an Austin Chronicle feature on lake-area dining. You might want to make "good food" and "lake view" objectives for two different meals. For something on the lake you're likely to have to settle for pretty good food with great atmosphere.
The Link

Also, that Chronicle story is from 2000, so while most of the places listed are still around, some are not. You might want to call ahead. Still a pretty decent guide, though.

Gotta get some BBQ too! Try Muellers on Manor Road just east of I-35 and campus or Hoover's across the street from it. See thread on same forum.

Neuvo Leon on East 6th Street. The finest frozen Margaritas you will ever have... BAR NONE!

Food good as well, but the Margies are mindblowing as they taste so damn good you don't realize how frigging potent those things are!

Lake Travis - Iguana grill is pretty good. Not the greatest I've ever had, but if you go during the day and sit on the patio with a lake view it'll taste like the best TexMex you've ever had.

Of course, you've gotta try Chuy's on Barton Springs. Guero's on SoCo has the best damn tacos .....Mmmmm!

The wife and I had a great time in Austin! The weather was great with the exception of Saturday. We ate at Guero's, The Oasis and Nuevo Leons. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Job interview went very well. Will probably hear something in a few weeks. I was very disappointed in the housing market though...my potential job is in Round Rock and we were looking for housing there because it's suppose to be cheaper...geez, cookie-cutter homes with no yards! I can't even imagine how expensive Austin proper must be.

Sticker shock is sort of brutal.

There are more houses on the market than in anytime in the last few years so perhaps you might find a distressed seller if you are lucky who is a bit mroe negotiable.

What will bloy your mind is what they want for a 2 bedroom frame house with no insulation in Travis Heights.... mind blowing....
