I know a lot of us were thinking last night that this was easily biggest road win since Columbus in '05 and I saw the interview with VY comparing last night to the Horns massive win in Columbus that gave an already incredibly talented team the knowledge they could go anywhere and win. Like that team which fell behind in the fourth quarter on the road in a place that is just a cauldron of noise and found the heart and grit to come back and win last night Texas and Quinn Ewers showed me this team is capable. But just as VY said in his interview all this means is that you have shown you can. 2023 is not the '05 team in terms of overall talent but this season sets up for a run like '05 now. As VY said enjoy it then get back to work.

Agree, and the parallel with the sOSU series goes deeper. In that 2 game series, the visitor came in with the better team and won both times. Same here. We weren't ready for Alabama last season, and they escaped with a win. They lost their star QB and a couple of other huge pieces to the draft.

This year, it was Texas who came calling in Tuscaloosa, like sOSU to Austin in 2006. Texas had the more experienced QB and while the oddsmakers didn't favor us, we still used our experience and talent to beat a very dangerous Alabama team that simply isn't used to losing at home.

Now it's up to the players and coaches to do what VY said last night: get back to work so you can beat Wyoming.

You make a very important point, to get back to business. I am sure Sark will make that same point. Long season remains.

But DAMN this was sweet:coolnana:

tOSU fans in 2005 were the worst I've ever experienced. Yes, worse than OU fans in Dallas. If we had to play in Norman, that'd probably be worse, but we don't.

I thought about 2005 Ohio State but it feels more like 1998 Nebraska to me. The 2005 game was a Matchup of the Titans, #2 vs #4, both teams expected to contend for the title. We had gone 11-1 the previous year and we knew we could play with anybody. The game was considered a toss-up.

The team 1998, like 2023, had a lot of players who'd been through a losing season with the team. And while they were looking good and improved, they were expected to still be a year away from being great. In both cases there was some thought we might win, but also some thought we'd get blown out. At the very least, we were considered the definite underdog.

Like tOSU in 2005 because out of conference, but I think the parallel is 2008 45-35 in Dallas. That Horn team was thought to be good, but not in the same neighborhood as the dirt burglars. There were some funny bounces in the first half but with Shipley returning the kickoff they trailed by one at half. I remember thinking that if someone didn’t know the score and was just listening to the talking heads at half they would have thought ou was up four touchdowns. The Horns wore them out in the second half and went from pretender to contender. Even with the strange events in lubbuttocks Horns should have been in the Big 12 and the ultimate championship game. Horns have to go undefeated to make the playoffs, purple cockroaches made sure of that with their performance against Georgia.
