Colt's Punt

I'm trying to remember. Has he done that before? Can anyone remember the last QB to do that? For me, it brought back memories of DKR's love of having QBs quick kick in the '60s.

Colt has done it plenty of times before. So much so that when it was 4th and 11 and the offense was still on the field, I told everyone around me it was going to be a pooch punt. It was pretty obvious what was coming.

The logic behind it is that you might either:

1. Draw the D offsides and make it a more manageable 4th and 5 or 6. Depending on where you are on the field, going for it on 4th and 5 isn't a huge gamble when playing a lesser opponent.

2. Get a roughing the kicker call. Now, with Colt as our only dependable QB at this point, screw that idea.

4. The main thinking is to force them to play defense and to not get a return man back, making it easier to pin them inside the 10.

Didn't get to watch the game, but listened on the radio.

On a related note to McCoy punting, was the field goal fake. FAU's coaches smelled something, knowing Texas' recent history of faking field goals, and call a time out to alert the FAU defense.

Both squads line up and Texas STILL fakes it and gets a first down, IIRC, a completed pass to Shipley?

Tank,

Right, and IIRC he's done that before?

Without pulling a hammy?

I was telling everyone around me at the game that Colt was going to pooch punt it and they were going to fake that FG...most everyone was in agreement...i just seemed so obvious considering the situations...
