to get my boy some love?

fair point and I agree.

I'll give Mizzou Illinois though.

Hell I'll give Oklahoma Washington and Texas Arkansas.

The rest are an embarrassment.

Colt is getting no love right now because of last year. If Texas had started in the top 5, Colt would def. be getting all kinds of love from the media. Having said this, all he has to do is continue to play the way he has these first four games, and he will be a damn near lock to be the first QB from Texas to win the trophy.

Of course, us winning is a result of him playing lights out, we have to keep winning for him to get the love.

HOOK EM!!

this is stupid. it doesn't matter if no one is mentioning Colt in the Heisman talk *right now*.

if Colt helps lead Texas to victories over OU, Mizz, and Tech -- along with no further slip ups along the way, the Heisman will be his to lose.

The even better news is that it would also take us to the Big12 CG game, and if we win that, the MNC game.

Also, is Boobie still having Bradford throw passes in the 4th quarter of blowouts? What would Colt's stats look like if he played the entire game?

Two things to consider:

1. If Colt plays well and the Horns win, he'll get plenty of attention. For example, I hope that we are fortunate enough to see him play well and lead us to back to back wins over the Buffs and Sooners. If that happens, he will be on everybody's top 5.

2. While Colt's proficiency/success rushing doesn't hurt his cause--and has helped the team--I really hope we don't go to the well one too many times there. I would love to see us be able to grind out short ydg with Cody, etc., rather than having Colt sneak a good bit.

I agree it's way too early to fret about this. In the unlikely event Colt leads us to victories through the murderers' row in our schedule of OU, Missou, Tech, etc., he'll probably win the Heisman in an effing landslide. More likely, he'll have a great year, but the team won't be good enough as a whole to win all those games, so somebody on a more successful team will win it.

right now, its basically one of 5 QB's whos going to win this thing.

Its basically the Big 12 vs Sanchez and Walker

Bradford, Daniels, & McCoy are going to play against at least one of each other.

If one of those guys destorys the other 2 - then its basically a lock as long as that player doesnt get hurt.

Meanwhile the USC fans just have to sit back and watch the 3 top QB's fight each other and hope their boy starts to have the crazy numbers we expect with that super soft Pac 10.

Alabama could still lose 2 games and because its the SEC their guy would have a legit (and honestly deserved) shot at winning the Heisman.

the problem is, even if Colt plays spectacular, Daniels, Bradford and Harrell will be going up against our secondary, on which, I'm afraid to say, they will absolutely light up unless we get pressure on them with our front 7. Colt can't play defense, so if we lose those games, it'll be more of the defense's fault and not his, but it will look poorly upon him.

if he keeps puttting up 200 passing and 80 rushing and you guys win the big12, he will finish higher than chase daniel or bradford.

I keep hearing that Colt needs to beat so and so and so and so before he can be the heisman winner. This is stupid because the heisman is not a team trophy. Very rare the heisman goes to a player playing in the national championship game. Kirk Herbstreit just a few short years ago started making the point that this person has to beat these teams to win the trophy and ever since then the sheep have been running with it. Heck, Herb only mentions it when it's a player on a team that he wants to exclude from the trophy race.

This trophy really means nothing anymore because ESPN has taken it over. Remember the week before the voting in 2005? That week ESPN pulled out all the stops to get it for Reggie Bush. They even had a 30 minute special on the similarities Reggie Bush has with Gayle Sayers and re-ran it the whole week leading up to the voting.

We shouldn't have to beat all of those teams for Colt to win the Heisman. He just has to play great football and even that may not be enough for us to win the hard stretch of games we are about to play. Oh, and Colt can't get it unless ESPN says Colt will get it. It's that simple.
